Thanksgiving is about family, friends & loved ones. My Mom died in 2012, so as the Matriarch in my little branch of the Family Tree, I won't be online much today as I will be busy baking, chopping, slicing & dicing our Turkey Day dinner.
As a Licensed Health & Life Insurance Agent since 2006, Holiday times have traditionally meant time to make most of my Annual Income for the whole year - which is not to say that Insurance isn't bought & sold at other times through out the year.
It is: People have Birthdays 365 days a year. As such "Special Election Periods" happen every day of the year.
Thanksgiving in Medicare is SUCH A Turkey this yr I am boycotting Black Friday AND the rest of the Annual Election Period. FRAUDULENT Advertising for a $900 Food Card is an Unethical Bait And Switch that I REFUSE TO PARTICIPATE IN. Truth In Advertising.
Those Food Cards have been the bain of our existence for several years now, but this year with the CREULTY of the Trump Administration ending Food Assistance during the latest Government Shutdown, desperate Seniors call the Phone Number "As Seen on TV," thinking they will be able to put a Turkey on their Plates as soon as TODAY.
Those FRAUDULENT TV COMMERCIALS claim that "All Seniors on Medicare, aged 65 & Older QUALIFY for a $900 Food Card."
Having Medicare is only the first step in qualifying.
What those FRAUDLUENT ADS don't tell you is that you MUST ALSO HAVE MEDICAID.
In years past, that was enough.
New for the 2025/2026 Plan year, thanks to the Trump Administration, to be Eligible for a Food Card, ALL MEDICARE REICIPIENTS MUST PROVE BY DOCTOR'S DIAGNOSIS that they have one or more QUALIFYING CHRONIC HEALTH CONDITIONS - like Diabetes &/or Heart Disease.
Plus, 95% of all Medicare Plans written during AEP have an Effective Date of Coverage of 1/1/2026.
It is a CRUEL & FRAUDULENT Bait & Switch to imply that they can get a Food Card TODAY to save their Thanksgiving Dinner.
Then these PISSED OFF CALLERS wind up on MY PHONE CALLING ME A FRAUD A SCAMMER & A BITCH
Their misdirected anger harasses & bullies me AT WORK WHILE I AM TRYING TO DO MY JOB. They never ask to speak to a Manager. They just scream & hurl insults at me while I am honestly trying to help them.
