Discrimination is NEVER Ok. Disney's Portrayal of Femme Fatale' "Cruella" is Misogyny

At a time when America is going through its' long-overdue Racial Reckoning & the Mega-Media behemoth Disney themselves are scouring their back catalog for "Racially Insensitive Movies," they have the STUNNING NERVE to attack WOMEN - ALL WOMEN - with yet another spinoff of 101 Dalmatians.

As if the original wasn't Misogynistic enough, "Cruella" is an infuriating slap in the face to ALL WOMEN.

As a person who has been in Bi-Racial Relationships in the past, I would participate more in in the National Racial Reckoning if the Media wasn't so BLATANTLY SEXIST.

And it keeps getting worse.

I am literally watching the Media try to fix Racism on the backs of WOMEN.

When "Disney+" rolled out in 2020, along with their Streaming Platform Hulu, the "Stories Matter" Campaign & Website were launched along with Advisory Statements on such Disney Movies as the Aristocats, Dumbo, Peter Pan, the Swiss Family Robinson and others.

They say nothing about the Misogynist portrayal of WOMEN as "witches" beginning with the Wizard of Oz.....

In Sleeping Beauty...

In Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs...

In The Little Mermaid with Ursula the Sea Witch...

And on & on & on.

Here is what they have to say about this on their Web Page:

"Stories shape how we see ourselves and everyone around us. So as storytellers, we have the power and responsibility to not only uplift and inspire, but also consciously, purposefully and relentlessly champion the spectrum of voices and perspectives in our world."

The Site goes on to claim "Because happily ever after doesn't just happen. It takes effort. Effort we are making."

"As part of our ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion, we are in the process of reviewing our library and adding advisories to content that includes negative depictions or mistreatment of people or cultures. Rather than removing this content, we see an opportunity to spark conversation and open dialogue on history that affects us all. "

"To learn more about how stories have impacted society, please visit

www.disney.com/StoriesMatter"

If they want to "Spark a Conversation," I would think that Disney would know a thing or two about Libel Law & Defamation of Character.

"Libel is a method of defamation expressed by print, writing, pictures, signs, effigies, or any communication embodied in physical form that is injurious to a person's reputation, exposes a person to public hatred, contempt or ridicule, or injures a person in his/her business or profession."

Misogyny is literally defined as the "hatred of Women."

Does anyone think they are trying to "create a happily ever after for "Cruella?"

And how do you feel about their "negative depictions or mistreatment of people?"

The NAME of the Movie & the main character - Cruella - shows Malicious Intent on the part of Disney.

Not only has this Movie not been part of their new-found "Social Responsibility" this is THE FOURTH TIME THEY HAVE RELEASED IT:

  1. 1961 - 101 Dalmatians Original Movie

  2. 1996 - 101 Dalmatians Live action movie

  3. 2000 - 102 Dalmatians

  4. 2021 - Cruella

The original animated cartoon was bad enough already & each subsequent re-release keeps getting worse.

As a person with a Degree in Journalism, thankfully I am very well-versed in Libel Law..

This is why from the beginning in 2017 my entire Web Page has been devoted to calling out UNETHICAL DEFAMATORY MISOGYNY against WOMEN.

Social Responsibility is one Civic Duty that all Citizens, not just Corporations should strive for.

These days, people are more aware than ever about their Rights - but TOTALLY OBLIVIOUS TO THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES.

While the Constitution & the Bill of Rights do not prevent Defamation of Character before it happens, the Court system DOES provide remedies for defamatory statements that are false & misleading.

That remedy is Libel Law.

Just like Insurance Agents are REQUIRED to be certified in ETHICS, Journalism Majors are REQUIRED to study LIBEL LAW.

My Education & Background prior to getting my License in Health & Life Insurance, was in Journalism & Sociology, earning a Bachelor of Arts Double Major.

Journalism Majors like myself CANNOT get a Journalism Degree without passing LIBEL LAW.

I got my degree 30 years ago, at a time when nobody had home computers, tablets or “Smart Phones” & there was no Internet.

While modern life has changed to the point that we cannot imagine life without these things, one thing remains the same: there are LAWS protecting us from Libel, Slander & Defamation of Character.

This fact is made even more ironic with all of the "Stop Hate" Campaigns are so prevalent these days:

Stop Jewish Hate.

Stop Asian Hate.

Propaganda such as "Cruella" is poisoning the attitudes in the general Public towards WOMEN as a Class of People.

So it's pretty hard for someone like me to join in the Conversation about any kind of Racial Reckoning with Disney SLANDERING WOMEN.

In fact, if I had any kind of Legal Standing - if I had been named in the credits (thankfully I'm NOT) I would Sue them for Defamation of Character.

It will take a Class Action Lawsuit of ALL WOMEN.

This is why I've become a Women's Rights Activist, an Ethics Reform Activist & a soldier in the fight to get the Equal Rights Amendment Ratified into the US Constitution.

This includes ETHICS REFORM IN BROADCAST, beginning with Reimplementation of the Fairness Doctrine that was revoked in 2011.

At a time when Disney is claiming to take Social Responsibility seriously, they are the most SOCIALLY IRRESPONISBLE CORPORATE CITIZEN ON THE PLANET.
