Watching Her Wake Up on Her Deathbed. Publish the Equal Rights Amendment
ENCORE PRESENTATION.. Happy Birthday Brenda Annette Stanley. 9/4/1942 - 8/12/2012. People assume that WOMEN are responsible for "Speaking in Code." No we are NOT. My Mom never acted this way, HOW COULD SHE TEACH THIS GARBAGE TO ME??? It is NOT OK to blatantly attack WOMEN in pop culture of all kinds.
Honestly???
The War on Women is Prejudicial SEXIST DISCRIMINATION, maybe even Reverse Racism.
With the protection of the Equal Rights Amendment, Pop Culture would not be able to declare "Open Season" on women as has been done for DECADES in Music, in Movies & in TV Advertising.
I have learned YOUR CODE late in life by watching TV..
On August 12, 2012 my Mom collapsed into my arms & died of Stage 4 Lung Cancer.
These are my thoughts on what it was like to see my Mom figure out what the world does to WOMEN behind our backs.
On This Day, September 4, 2020 I honor the memory of my Mom Brenda Annette Stanley on her Birthday.
Born on 9/4/1942 in Gastonia, North Carolina, Mom died on August 12, 2012 just shy of her 70th Birthday.
My Mom's Mom was Ruth Elizabeth Brown. Ruth Brown had a brother named Jack Brown.
Mom's Uncle Brown OWNED a Radio Station.
Consider this, if my Mom's Uncle was a BROADCAST PIONEER - which he for a fact was - & white English-Speaking people are to blame for people "Speaking in Code," don't you think I would have been "Speaking in Code" my entire life???
If my Uncle Brown knew about this, if my Uncle Brown participated in this, if my Uncle Brown was a "Code Speaker," HE NEVER TOLD ANY OF US ABOUT THIS.
THIS is my motivation.
I have SOLUTIONS to FIX THIS.
UPDATE:. The 19th Amendment gave Women the Right to Vote but it doesn't go far enough. Let's celebrate 100 years of voting rights for women by ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment in 2020.
With the protection of the Equal Rights Amendment, Pop Culture would not be able to declare "Open Season" on women as has been done for DECADES in Music, in Movies & in TV Advertising.
UPDATE. Today, March 19th is the start of "March Madness" so I thought I would highlight WHY we do still need the Equal Rights Amendment by looking at the MADEA Franchise' latest offering " A Madea Family Funeral"
PEOPLE are INDIVIDUALS - we are NOT our actors, good or bad.
Stuff like this does not improve our lives or make our lives better. In fact, it pisses people off, Madea.
When the viewing public sees or hears something that inspires feelings of anger, will the expression of that anger be Positive or Negative?
When we stand up & say "that's not right," we take positive action to right a wrong.
Case in point about those NAMES & NUMBERS: local TV News anchor Gina Gaston on ABC 13. I can't believe she's any too happy about her NAME BEING GASTON.
GAS MAKES PEOPLE HAPPY, right???
My Mother is buried at GASTON MEMORIAL PARK in Gastonia, North Carolina.
I'm not too happy about all of that GAS myself. In fact I was pretty angry, more like FURIOUS when I wrote this piece below, MADEA.
So what will we do with this information?
We express this in a positive way & TEACH HOW TO STOP IT.
People are NOT their Actors.
People are NOT their POLITICIANS.
PEOPLE are Individuals.
Learn to treat PEOPLE as Individuals.
Learn to treat INDIVIDUALS with RESPECT.
Learn to speak with EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE.

One of the saddest things I’ve ever lived through other than Hurricane Harvey was watching my mother’s revelation of how WOMEN ARE VICTIMIZED BY LANGUAGE just prior to her death in August of 2012.
WOMEN are NOT CAUSING THIS: this is BEING DONE TO US.
People are INDIVIDUALS & no one person is single-handedly responsible for their respective language, yet WOMEN are held ACCOUNTABLE for the English Language every day. “Oh, it’s that GIRL, - that ENGLISH-SPEAKING WHITE GIRL.”
Today is September 4th – 9/4: Labor Day. My Mom was a Labor Day baby.
Just when we thought we had made it through AUGUST, the “gassiest month of the year,” we arrive at “dead people month.”
SERIOUSLY???
One more time, NOBODY IN MY FAMILY ever acted this way, spoke this way, communicated this way.
When we learn things, learning what NOT TO DO is equally as important as LEARNING what to do.
I began waking up to this knowledge in the mid-1990s & tried to tell the rest of the family what was going on. Five years after the death of my mother, it would be easy to sit back & say “I TOLD YA SO,” but there is NOTHING TO GLOAT ABOUT BEING RIGHT.
It is stunning. It is insulting. And it is WRONG.
WOMEN have been VICTIMIZED by Language, Communication & all of those insulting translations.
I come from a long line of BROWN WOMEN. My mother’s mother was born Brown. In Gastonia. I was born in SALISBURY. BURIED??? Sa-lis-BURY???
Was I really born BROWN, GASSY & BURIED???
A LANGUAGE VICTIM.
Please stop BLAMING WHITE WOMEN FOR LANGUAGE.
YOU are VICTIMIZING ME.
Thank You.
